This worksheet gives Grade 3 students focused practice with one of the most useful comma rules in writing: separating three or more items in a list. Knowing where to place commas in a series helps readers follow a list without confusion, and the serial comma — the comma placed right before the word 'and' — is an important part of that pattern. The sheet is organized into three parts that build on each other. Students start by finding listed items in correctly punctuated sentences, then fill in a missing word to complete a series, and finally rewrite sentences where commas have been left out. - When you list three or more items, put a comma after each item except the last one.
- Always put a comma before the word 'and' that closes the list. This is called the serial comma.
