Pronouns and Their Antecedents Worksheet — Grade 2
A Grade 2 worksheet that drills identifying pronouns and the nouns they replace, with practice matching singular and plural pronouns to their antecedents.
Every time a writer uses a word like he, she, it, or their, a reader has to know which noun that pronoun is standing in for. That noun is called the antecedent, and making sure the pronoun matches it is one of the first editing skills young writers need. This worksheet gives Grade 2 students three kinds of practice: spotting the pronoun and its antecedent in a sentence, filling in the right pronoun, and choosing the correct match from a short list. Each sentence uses familiar topics — animals, family, and school — so students can focus on the pronoun, not the vocabulary. Work through Part A together the first time to make sure students understand what they are looking for before they continue on their own.
